Fascinating video and facts. Thank you, Steve. I love how the car was re-purposed but each of the important owners knew to keep the original parts or recognized the historical VIN.
That is, unfortunately, not done in many cases and we lose many historical automobile and/or parts every year.
I have an undocumented story about my Uncle, who sold machine tool products to Ford and GM after the war.
He acquired the original, hammer/hand formed front fenders from the prototype '55 T-bird. I remember him showing them to me when I was a child. He lived in the Detroit Metro area and I lived on the west side of the state. But we had a bond, through our mutual love of cars that continued until his death.
Anyway, after his passing all of his cars and parts disappeared. I was never informed of any pending actions by his family. So sad.

I have told this story here before, but briefly - a tiny me dragged my dad over to a bunch of '69 Camaros parked in front of Jack Amatucci Chevrolet. Then he went into the dealership and ordered yet another in a series of Impalas. With a black vinyl interior. And no A/C. In DC. And I had to date in that fucking car.
